Current Action Items for Parental Rights

Take Action

Rep. Debbie Lesko (R-AZ) introduced the Parental Rights Amendment in the U.S. House on October 18, 2022, joined by eight cosponsors.

Cosponsors include:

Rep. Jeff Duncan [R-SC-3]
Rep. Jim Banks [R-IN-3]
Rep. Mary E. Miller [R-IL-15]
Rep. W. Gregory Steube [R-FL-17]
Rep. Bill Posey [R-FL-8]
Rep. Doug Lamborn [R-CO-5]
Rep. Beth Van Duyne [R-TX-24]
Rep. Ben Cline [R-VA-6]

If any of the above is your congressman, send them a short email thanking them for their support. Don’t call their office, as that ties up their time and resources. Our practice is to make phone calls (emails when necessary) to request or demand action, but to always send our thanks by email. Believe me: your congressman’s office will appreciate this!

If your congressional representative is not on the above list, it’s not too late to call them and ask them to sign on as a cosponsor. They won’t be “original cosponsors,” but they can still sign on to show support for parental rights.

Congress is back in session, and they need to hear from you!

You can find your congressman’s contact information on GovTrack, or call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121.

Call Instructions:

  1. You will almost certainly talk to a staff member and not your actual congressional representative. Be courteous but clear, asking your representative to sign on as a cosponsor to the Parental Rights Amendment, tell them you are a constituent and that you are calling to encourage your representative to sign on with Rep. Debbie Lesko of Arizona as a cosponsor of the Parental Rights Amendment that she introduced on October 18, 2022.
  2. If you’d like to add some of the reasoning behind your decision to support the Amendment, that will help them, too.
  3. You might also mention that their support in this tangible way can only help them on their reelection efforts. Public opinion polls show support for parental rights at over 90%, regardless of political party affiliation.
  4. Lastly, some offices will also require you to give them your address so they can confirm you live in the congressman’s district.
